If you're sick of the boring black rectangle of your TV ruining your interior design ambitions, then Samsung's The Frame TV is the solution. Designed to turn seamlessly into a picture frame when you're not watching, the set lets you display artwork or family photos on the wall - no more wasted space! There's even a motion sensor in Art Mode that means the picture turns off when you're out of the room, saving energy.

The 85-inch size Frame was new last year, with a slim-fit wall mount allowing you to hang it flush to the wall, reducing its presence even more. In addition, the anti-reflection matte display looks much more like a genuine picture frame, and customizable bezels (sold separately) add to the effect even further.

With all of these extra features, it's easy to forget about the TV itself, but the QLED panel, 120Hz refresh rate, and Quantum Dot technology mean that movies, TV, and sports will all look great. Dolby Atmos surround sound also gives you surround sound with just your TV, should you not want to buy a separate soundbar.

How to choose the best 85 inch TV for your home

This may seem like a silly question, but it's true that not all 85-inch TVs are actually the same size. This is due to a few factors, including the thickness of the bezel. Because you will either mount it or place it on a particular surface, you should ensure you have the correct measurements before moving forward.

For a general idea of dimensions, the choices on this list range from 41.8-43.5in high, 72.9-75.8in wide, and 0.6-3.3in deep without considering the stand. If weight is important, you should also ensure your chosen set meets your particular needs.

Can I get an 85 inch TV wall mount?

It's perfectly possible to mount your 85-inch TV - in fact, it's probably preferable. While many homes will have a wall large enough to house such a hefty bit of tech, most people don't own a TV stand wide enough. Doing so, however, will likely be a group effort, should you decide to DIY the job. If you're unsure, we recommend bringing in a professional to help.

Of course, if you're going to mount your set, you'll need some creative ways to hide TV cords.

Maybe you want your TV to take center stage in your living room? Or do you have a home theater room that would be the perfect place for it? For the best 85-inch TV, you will need to ensure that you purchase a mount that is recommended for super-sized sets. We will also note that, of the choices on the list, all but one require you to buy the mount separately. For more information, take a look at our TV mounting ideas.

75 vs 85 inch TVs: which to choose?

If you've decided that you want to go big with your next television, you may be trying to decide between a 75 and 85-inch TV. While both are much larger than most of us are used to having in our homes, you need to consider which option would suit your particular viewing style and circumstances.

If you have a large living room or dedicated home theater room, then an 85-inch TV may be the way to go. Investing now could prevent you from replacing a smaller screen a few years down the line. On the other hand, a 75-inch TV would be more than large enough to enjoy a movie or the big game to its full potential at home, and if you want to go big, projectors are a much cheaper option, though they can't replicate the image quality of a TV.

If you're still not totally sure, you can check out our advice on 'What size TV do I need?

Is an 85 inch TV too big for the living room?

As with most things, whether an 85-inch TV is too large for your space depends on many factors, including individual taste, how often you use your television (and for what), and the size of your home.

While 75-inch TVs have become more common in households over the last few years, 85-inches and above are still a rarity. That said, the popularity of the former indicates that won't be the case for long. Undoubtedly, an 85-inch TV is a luxury item, but it could also be a savvy move for those who want the best viewing experience possible and a future-proofed set-up. Check out our guide to living room TV ideas for inspiration.

What is the price of an 85 inch TV?

Because 85 inch TVs have only been commercially available for a relatively short time, they don't come cheap. However, you may be surprised at how affordable some are, considering the extra inches on offer.

Samsung, for example, has a couple of models (including the TU7000 featured on this list) available for just $1400, and LG, Hisense, and TCL have also brought out models costing less than $2000. All feature 4K resolution, with concessions being made elsewhere to keep the price down.

Meanwhile, our top pick for the best 8K 85-inch TV - the Samsung QN900A - comes in at just under $5,000, and you could easily pay over $10,000 if you want the very latest technology.
