Hermès’s mythical-inspired garden brings the allure of a Parisian rooftop to London’s Mayfair

When garden design rhymes with high fashion: The French label has blessed Bond Street with a Mediterranean sanctuary

What do you get when you combine London-cool with Parisian chic and Greek majesty? The most fashionable garden in London, brought to life by French power-maison, Hermès. The redesigned terrace at their New Bond Street store is a sensory celebration of the sun-kissed season, mirroring their rooftop garden in the Faubourg store in Paris.

Blooming with fragrant flowers, herbs, and overflowing with coffee, we’re taking urban gardening ideas from this Mediterranean jewel – that is a haven for green-thumbed fashion lovers – with a craving for escapism.

Working with celebrated landscape designer Sarah Price, Hermès celebrated their theme of the year – Hermès, A Human Odyssey. Sarah drew from the Greek islands of Homer and Odysseus, the Garrigue of southern mainland France, and Fynbos of South Africa and Mediterranean ecosystems to curate an organic kingdom amid London’s most stylish postcode.

The most aesthetic of its plants include sub-shrubs, olives, and resinous trees, and naturally, we’re stealing modern garden ideas from this oh-so-stylish terrace. The garden also features Afghani Fig trees, soothing lavender, green Euphorbias, and pastel Cistus flowers. These florals envelope the Draped Reclining Figure sculpture by Henry Moore, which acts as the focal point of the space.

Alongside its delectable floral offerings, the terrace offers a colorful selection of mocktails, cold-pressed juices, cleansing concoctions, and coffee – because the only thing chicer than a Hermès garden is a Hermès Americano.

Plus, the terrace not only looks good but does good, too, as all plants and materials used in the creation are donated to The Exchange, a community-run organization in London. This space was designed by locals to promote new community-led programs and activities in the city.

The garden is now open until the 1st of August. Find the store at 155 New Bond St London, W1S 2UA, or visit the Hermès website for more information. We’ll be taking wardrobe ideas and garden notes from this fashionable paradise.
