The vintage and antique marketplace can feel like a sprawling labyrinth of design gems from antiquity to contemporary history, and is often a tricky terrain to traverse.
Step in designer Matthew Williamson who has teamed up with Vinterior to create a series of online, shoppable edits to help you find exactly what you’re looking for to create a one-of-a-kind, totally personal living space.
Matthew Williamson, known for his flamboyant and colourful style, will be presenting a curated edit of his favourite pieces under a new theme each month. The first edit launched just yesterday evening, conjuring the essence of a quintessentially English home, and there will be more edits taking us right into AW20.

The English Home Edit – and all future edits – will have between 60-100 items to choose from. His inaugural edit encompasses a mix of modern design classics and international antiques including Chinoiserie and Persian rugs.
The edit includes a vintage Eero Saarinen tulip table, a cheerfully colourful Murano glass chandelier, a William Morris patterned drinks cabinet, a very jazzy 19th Century French Settee upholstered in a Linwood palm print fabric, and a pair of gorgeous composite stone planters with leaf detailing for the garden. The pieces he picked suit every budget, too; a Murano glass pitcher / vase is just £49, an original still life painting for just £105, porcelain parrots for £132, and a rather fun English ceramic poodle for £220.

On the eclectic mix of old and new, Matthew comments: 'There is no principle more important than juxtaposition between the old and the new in interior design. The magical contrast you can achieve by pairing historical and contemporary furniture and accessories in the home is undeniable.'
He adds: 'English decoration's historic global influence is reflected in it's most defining interiors; from Persian rugs to Chinese ceramics, making it hard to narrow down your design decisions. So, here is my edit to help you pick and choose the right pieces for your perfect English look'.

Celebrated for his eclecticism and his use of vivid colour and intricate pattern, Matthew Williamson is a pioneer of rustic decadence in the home, honouring craftsmanship and playful frivolity in equal measure.
