LA interior enthusiasts, your time is now. IKEA US has announced plans to launch two new planning studios in the city center and Long Beach in spring 2022.

The precise location of the central studio is yet to be determined, however, IKEA has promised it will be in a convenient location – to avoid time in traffic, naturally.

While the postcode remains a mystery, the Scandinavian label has shared information about their new touchpoints that will provoke inspiration and smart home solutions for LA dwellers.

Are we on the verge of a wave of SoCal cool IKEA hacks? We can only hope so.

‘IKEA is transforming to better meet the needs of our customers, and we are excited to strengthen our presence in Los Angeles and be where people are – whenever and however they want to meet IKEA,’ says Javier Quiñones, CEO & Chief Sustainability Officer of IKEA US.

‘We’ve seen that customers are still eager for in-person experiences. That’s why we’re investing heavily in brick and mortar locations and newer, more accessible store formats like the two LA planning studios – in addition to e-commerce.’

The new studios will offer the chance to work alongside design specialists to create and order home furnishing solutions. Whether you’re looking for additional help on your new kitchen, bedroom, or modern bathroom ideas

While visitors are unable to take home any products on their shopping day, IKEA will ensure that their order reaches their home or another delivery point to ensure the look is replicable at home.

This concept stems from the chain’s market research to understand consumers – looking at factors such as how they live, shop, and the logistical barriers they may face.

'Understanding that many LA-area residents are often frustrated by being stuck in traffic, we identified geographic areas in the market that are beyond a 30-minute drive from existing stores and where affinity to IKEA is extremely high,' adds Janet McGowan, Area Vice President at IKEA US.

By opening the two planning studios in the LA market, we are taking the first steps to create customer meeting points that are more accessible and convenient to the many people of the LA market while continuing to offer smart and affordable home solutions,' she adds.

Los Angeles isn’t the only metropolis to welcome ease-free shopping from IKEA. Over on the East Coast, the store in Queens, New York, has similarly made new investments to improve its e-commerce experience and service offerings, including new lower-priced shipping & delivery, Click & Collect, and TaskRabbit assembly services.

This is the modern decorating idea IKEA knew we all needed.
